A really visually and informationally interesting video from seed magazine.com about computer simulations and visualizations. In many cases for science today, humans can't physically observe a process in order to understand it. The only option is to model it. The video shows some really great visualizations, including a container filled with explosives that is heated until it explodes. Also the merging of two black holes and the gravitational waves they create. The Researchers in Los Alomos who simulated 2.64 million atoms of the ribosome required 6 months of supercomputing time to produce only 20 nanoseconds of simulation.
I guess they've expanded beyond kittens.
